Snow in November: Filming in Whistler Blackcomb

Written on November 19, 2012

Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler Blackcomb Resort, located in British Columbia, Canada is a short 2 hour drive from Western Canada’s main film production service centre, Vancouver.

Commonly referred to as Hollywood North, Vancouver is one of the world’s best production service centres offering a great depth of crew and equipment, multicultural talent and animal actors such as Grizzly bears and wolves.

Whistler Blackcomb is North America’s largest ski resort. It also has the greatest uphill lift capacity. Well equipped helicopters are also available for film crews looking to reach more remote locations.

Having hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler offers an array of modern venues including ski jump and a bobsled track. The Peak 2 Peak gondola holds records for the highest and longest unsupported cable car span in the world.

Audain Art Museum is a beautiful structure.

November, traditionally an inconsistent month for snowfall is generally a reliable month in Whistler particularly at higher altitude.  For snowfall statistics see here.
