AthensWas is a Design HotelTM and it is designed in line with the core principles of classical modernism. The aesthetic of its rooms and communal spaces is defined by clean, uncluttered lines and natural materials—chiefly Greek marble and wood. Still, it leaves the eye with an impression which dances clear of the pretentious, gracing the luxury with delightfully deft touches which can often be described as playful. and are spacious enough to dine out on. Our Deluxe Rooms

are elegantly furnished and equipped with a luxurious

Modern & Spacious.

Each 40m2/430 ft2 residence suite comes with a comfortable

sitting room in addition to the bedroom. Residence Suites are

at the front of the building look out over the wonderful plane

trees on Dionysiou Areopagitou street and have spacious,

beautifully-furnished verandas. Our Residence Suites

are elegantly furnished and equipped with a luxurious

bathroom and fittings.

The 32m2/344 ft2 Superior Deluxe Room is spacious

and equipped with a mini-bar and a work table. There is

is spacious and beautifully furnished. Our Superior Deluxe

The 55m2/592 ft2 Hellenic Suite consists of two

bedrooms and two bathrooms. The Hellenic Suite is

elegantly furnished and equipped with luxurious bathrooms

and fittings. An additional single bed can sleep a fourth

person, if required. The suite is ideal for families.

Hellenic Grand Suite

A special suite with a view.

The 110m2/1181 ft2 Hellenic Grand Suite occupies

the hotel’s entire 6th floor. The suite consists of three

bedrooms and three bathrooms, and is equipped with a minibar

and a work table. The large veranda is furnished

with sofas and a dining table for wonderful meals in

the shadow of the illuminated Acropolis. However, it should

be noted that the Hellenic Grande Suite enjoys superb

views of all the city’s major sites and, of course, the city

itself. The furnishings in the Hellenic Grand Suite

are singularly elegant.

Modern Restaurant & Rooftop

Elegant, light, cheerful and carefree, the Modern Restaurant is one of the most pleasant and beloved spaces of AthensWas. The magnificent marble floor, the mimosas in the attractive atrium, but also the incredibly comfortable Luisa chairs at the tables – 1950 design, by the great Italian designer Franco Albini and produced by the renowned Cassina company – are just some of the main elements that make up the setting, which promises to satisfy even the most demanding guests. If we add to this the matching stylistic attention to detail of the art de la table, with accessories designed by designers like Ettore Sottsas, Mario Botta and Michael Graves, and also our staff, who take real care of our restaurant guests, with immense attention and discretion, we have the perfect stage setting, in which, as principal actor, the select and eclectic cuisine of the Modern Restaurant will shine.

On the menu of the Modern Restaurant one will find dishes that are considered international. However, the restaurant’s cuisine is mainly Greek. It is also very proud of the high quality and exceptionally tasty raw materials it uses. The Greek dishes in the Modern Restaurant veer from the strictly traditional in the way the recipes are carried out. In the Modern Restaurant, traditional Greek cuisine, without renouncing its simplicity, is transformed into high gastronomy and offers unique delights on many levels. So, this makes it a very special experience.

In the bar of the Modern Restaurant one can find a very wide variety of alcoholic drinks, liqueurs and cocktails, as well as a very appealing list of wines, most of which are Greek and aim to delight the connoisseur. Equally impressive is the choice of chocolate and coffee beverages, among which is the famous Kopi Luwak coffee from the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. However, the unquestionable stars on our list of drinks, wines and beverages are the four signature cocktails of the hotel which will be forever etched on the memories of those who try them: the Athens Marathon, the Golden Century, the Parthenon’s Glow and the Olympic Spirit. Their ingredients remain a guarded secret, but we can divulge that in each of them the defining taste comes from an authentic Greek drink, such as the mastic liqueur or ouzo and so many others! The signature cocktails of AthensWas are exceptionally light and refreshing and are an ideal choice for those who wish to gaze out over the rooftop terrace of the hotel with its stunning view of the Acropolis and the city of Athens.

Meeting Space & Business Center

AthensWas is the ideal hotel in the centre of Athens to combine a luxurious stay in the city with a state-of-theart working space for business and professional meetings. The meeting space and business centre of the AthensWas can cater for up to 20 people. Five Baguette desks (designed by the R & E Bouroullec brothers) can be arranged to form a single conference table, or, be placed separately to serve  the needs of working groups. The comfortable Viva chairs (design by Marc Beithier) complete the stylistic character of the space. Apart from that, the space is well soundproofed and has high speed connection (cable and wifi), HD LED TV, presentation board, and telephone line. Furthermore, a buffet lunch or meals can be served in the work space itself. After prior arrangement, office support services can be arranged.

AthensWas: Its main philosophy… the “epicurean composure” that is shown in the design of the hotel and not only there since it combines ideally the harmony between indoor and outdoor which the visitor is able to experience everywhere he turns his look. Designed by the celebrated Greek design practice, STAGEDESIGNOFFICE, the rooms, suites and entire interior of the AthensWas hotel stand out for their clear, vibrant and integrated aesthetic which charms with its cohesion and uncontrived dedication to luxury. AthensWas is dominated by Greek marble and Greek walnut, the most sought after and -according to those in the know- most beautiful domestic wood.

In the rooms and suites, furniture which we would describe today as modern classics, such as the LC3 armchairs which were designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, the exquisite Eileen Gray divan (1925), or the wonderful coffee table designed by Warren Platner in 1966, blend perfectly with more contemporary creations of international design, such as the Canta and Viki armchairs by Toshiyuki Kita, the Venus chair by Konstantin Grcic, lamps by the Bouroullec brothers and many others that give vibrant fiery tones to the whole which both surprise and impress.

Harmony could not be achieved and complete without the presence of nature. For AthensWas, as well as for all the Athenians and visitors “life in the veranda” is of great importance. All rooms have great verandas with “natural” curtains of jasmine, wisteria and other climbing plants of Greek flora. The scene is completed by gorgeous, tall and bushy trees at the beginning of Dionysiou Areopagitou resembling to a «theater curtain ‘, offering the most welcome cooling directly in front of where the hotel is located.
