History.

With a rich history and tradition dating back to 1914, The Westin Chosun Seoul is the oldest Western-style hotel in Korea and has

The Site of The Chosun Hotel 

Nestled in Sogong-ro, the heart of Seoul, historically the Westin Chosun Seoul has long been known as an auspicious place. The name of Sogong-dong was originated derived from the palace where the second daughter of King Taejong of the Joseon, Princess Gyeongjeong had lived in the early Joseon period(14th century).

According to the highest authority studying the theory of ground configuration, the Westin Chosun Seoul is nestled in a pocket where the energy flows from the land heads to the north along Namsan Mountain. This type of energy flows is very rare, making the location of The Westin Chosun Seoul even more auspicious. Because of this rare concentration of spiritual energy, Hwangudan (Temple of Heaven) was constructed here so that Emperor Gojong could pay his respect to his ancestors and perform sacrificial rites to heaven.
