Atlanta is the state capital and the state’s largest city. Athens film locations include Athens City Hall, Georgia Theatre, Morton Theatre, and Oconee Hill Cemetery. University of Georgia campus buildings of note include Park Hall, Georgia Museum of Art, State Botanical Garden of Georgia, Stegeman Coliseum, and Sanford Stadium.
Georgia has several picturesque small American towns. Covington was filmed for Doctor Sleep (2019), The Vampire Diaries (2009-2017), Flight (2012), Remember the Titans (2000), and My Cousin Vinny (1992). Jackson was filmed for Stranger Things (2016-). Other small towns of note include Social Circle, Juliette, Madison, Dahlonega, Elberton, Sparta, Milledgeville, and Thomasville. The mountain town of Helen is known for its Bavarian-style buildings and vineyards.

Driftwood Beach is located on Jekyll Island.
Atlanta International Raceway is located in Hampton.
Museum of Aviation is located on Robins Air Force Base.
Stone Mountain Park is located just outside of Atlanta.
Tallulah Gorge State Park is known for Tallulah Falls and whitewater rafting.
Rock City is located on Lookout Mountain.
Fantastic Pit has one of the country’s deepest cave drops.
Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Mexico.

Georgia Film Location Permits
Georgia does not require state-wide film permits. The permitting process varies depending on what part of the state you are shooting in and the type of permit you require. In general, permitting is a quick, easy and inexpensive process. Please contact us for location specific information.
When To Shoot?
Georgia has hot and humid summers, with the exception of mountain areas, which are cooler. Winters are mild with occasional snow in the interior. Fall colors come to the mountains in the north. Georgia receives many tornadoes although they are generally weak. Georgia is also vulnerable to hurricanes.

Georgia Tax Incentives For Filming
Georgia offers a 20% transferrable tax credit. An additional 10% is available if the finished production includes a promotional “Filmed in Georgia” logo. Savannah offers an additional rebate of 10% for any film, TV, and commercials productions that shoot in Greater Savannah.
