New Hampshire, the Live Free or Die state, is best known for its picturesque New England towns, white-steepled churches, snow-covered mountains, scenic roads, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, historic mills, covered bridges, universities, and colourful foliage in fall. The state has a short Atlantic coastline. Cities of note include Manchester and Concord.

The Good Son (1993) filmed the iceskating scene in Jackson, and the highway pileup in Newington.
Covered bridges of note include Cornish-Windsor Bridge, Bath Bridge, Blair Covered Bridge, Honeymoon Bridge, Clark’s Bridge, Albany Covered Bridge, and Sentinel Pine Bridge.
The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is a 740-mile trail that follows historic waterways.
Known for its erratic weather, Mount Washington is the highest peak in Northeastern United States. The Mount Washington Cog is a train that takes you to the top of the mountain. The road leading to the mountain is a spectacular film location for driving sequences. Nearby, the Omni Mount Washington Resort is a beautiful historic hotel.
Franconia Notch State Park is known for Flume Gorge. Other nature parks of note include Monadnock State Park, Odiorne Point State Park, Echo Lake State Park, Bear Brook State Park, Ponemah Bog Wildlife Sanctuary, and White Mountain National Forest.
Ski resorts of note include Attitash Mountain, Bretton Woods, Loon Mountain, Cranmore Mountain, Mount Sunapee, Cannon Mountain, Wildcat Mountain, Gunstock Mountain, Black Mountain, Ragged Mountain, Pats Peak, King Pine, Crotched Mountain, and Waterville Valley Resort.
Nansen Ski Jump is located in Milan.
The Conway Scenic Railroad is a heritage railroad in North Conway.
Robert Frost Farm is located in Derry.
New Castle is known for the elegant waterfront Wentworth by the Sea hotel, and Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse.
Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant is located in Seabrook.
New Hampshire Film Location Permits
New Hampshire does not require any general filming permits. Filming on public land requires an application to film on state property. Proof of insurance is required. Please contact us for location specific information.
When To Shoot?
New Hampshire has warm, humid summers with cold, wet and snowy winters. The coastal south-east has milder and wetter weather, while the northern and interior portions experience cooler temperatures and heavier snow.
New Hampshire is home to events throughout the year including maple sugaring in spring, the Wildquack River Festival is summer, Keene Pumpkin Festival in fall, and State Snow Sculpture Competition in winter.
