Vermont Film Locations

Vermont is a New England state known for its deep forests, colourful leaves in fall, covered bridges, picturesque small towns, beautiful winding mountain roads, small ski resorts, and pastoral scenes with roaming dairy cows and red-and-white painted farmhouses.

Agricultural film locations include farms that produce dairy products, and maple syrup. Granite and marble are mined. Much of the state’s energy comes from renewable resources. Energy locations include hydroelectric dams, biomass plants, as well as solar and wind farms.

Covered bridges of note include Arlington Green Covered Bridge, Woodstock Middle Covered Bridge, Quechee Covered Bridge, Taftsville Covered Bridge, Mill Brook Covered Bridge, Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge, Silk Covered Bridge, Fisher Covered Railroad Bridge, Gold Brook Covered Bridge, and Northfield Falls Covered Bridge. Willard Covered Bridge goes over a waterfall.

Ski resorts of note include Stowe, Smugglers’ Notch, Killington, Okemo Mountain, Jay Peak, Sugarbush, Stratton Mountain, Mount Snow, Bromley Mountain, Pico Mountain, Magic Mountain, and Bolton Valley.

Green Mountain National Forest is a temperate broadleaf and mixed forest that turns a beautiful bright colour in fall. Part of the Appalachian Trail runs through the park. Wildlife of note includes beavers, moose, coyotes, black bears, white-tailed deers, wild turkeys, and ruffed grouse.

Other nature parks of note include Mount Philo State Park, Mount Ascutney State Park, Emerald Lake State Park, Quechee State Park, and Smugglers Notch State Park, to name a few.

Vermont has mild summers and cold, snowy winters. The fall colors Vermont is famous for are found in October / November.
