Film Fall Colors in Connecticut

Written on October 7, 2013

Film Fall Colors

Fall brings film directors and photographers to Connecticut for fiery oranges, yellows and reds set against a backdrop of brilliant blue skies. The crisp air allows for clear panoramic views that go for miles. Picturesque drives, ideal for car commercials, take you through quaint villages, past reflective lakes and pastural landscapes punctuated by rustic barns, pumpkin stalls and apple orchards.

Of particular interest to filmmakers and photographers are the areas of Kent, Litchfield and the Cornwalls in North-West Connecticut. New York City, a short 2 hour drive away, is the closest major film production center for crew and equipment.

When?

Fall colors start in late September and most of Connecticut reaches peak color by mid October. For a map of normal foliage times in Connecticut see here.
