Southern Highlands
Located 110 km (70 miles) south-west of Sydney, the Southern Highlands are a region famous for historic buildings, manor houses, wineries, and green rolling countryside.
Towns of note include Bowral, Berrima, Mittagong, and Joadja abandoned ghost town.
Bowral is a popular place to base crew with its many accommodation and dining options. The Bradman Museum and International Cricket Hall of Fame is located in Bowral. In late September Bowral hosts its annual tulip festival.
Natural locations of note include Morton National Park, Budderoo National Park, Nattai National Park, Macquarie Pass National Park, Fitzroy Falls, Wombeyan Caves, Mermaids Pool, and Illawarra Fly canopy walkway.
The Southern Highlands are known for their year-round cool, temperate climate.
The area has its connections to the film world. Children’s hit Babe was filmed in Robertson. Nicole Kidman has a home in Sutton Forest.
