Havana
Havana, the capital of Cuba, is one of the most beautiful and architecturally diverse cities in the world. From opulent mansions to run-down streets, Havana offers a vast variety of architectural styles including Beaux Arts, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Modernist and Post-Revolutionary buildings. Havana’s lack of modern development makes it easy to reproduce looks from a variety of bygone eras.
Film locations of particular interest include:
Colonial looks such as the Capitolio Nacional, Neo-classical Hotel Inglaterra, Havana Stock Exchange, Great Theatre of Havana, Fine Arts Museum, Revolution Museum, University of Havana, picturesque town squares, Morro Fort, Havana Harbour and the famous Malecon.
1950′s American gangster era looks such as the Melia Cohiba, Hotel Riviera, Habana Libre, Fosca building, and 1950′s American Buicks.
Post-Revolution locations of interest include Revolution Square and the National Theater of Cuba, old Soviet Ladas and Moskvitchs.
Within an hour of Havana you can find beautiful landscapes including white sand beaches and turquoise waters, rivers, rural roads and plantations.
Cuba Film Location Permits
Cuba Film Location Permits can only be obtained through a state approved production company. General film permits for guerrilla style shoots take about two weeks to process. Separate permission may be required for shooting inside individual public buildings. Larger shoots involving road closures, pyrotechnics or traffic control can take up to three weeks to permit. Permission to film projects of a politically sensitive nature is generally not granted. Note if you try to film without appropriate permits you may be arrested and have your gear seized. Please contact us for location specific information.
