Ogden
Ogden is a city in Weber County, Utah, located 10 miles (16 km) east of the Great Salt Lake and 40 miles (64 km) north of Salt Lake City.
In 1869 Ogden became a major junction on the Transcontinental Railroad which connected the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads. With that came an influx of money and a debauchery uncommon with the conservative Mormon values of the state. Secret tunnels ran from Union Station to speakeasies along 25th Street. Brothels, booze, and Wild West violence was commonplace. Today, given its history and status as a university town, Ogden continues to have more of an edgy vibe than much of the rest of Utah. It is not uncommon to see young people sporting tattoos or drinking in the bars on 25th Street.
Ogden hosted productions including Sick (2022), Yellowstone (2018-), Con Air (1997), and Dumb and Dumber (1994).
Film Locations
Ogden is a well established outdoor recreation mecca used by both visitors and the many outdoor brands that come here to test their products. A short drive from the city centre takes you to mountain biking and hiking trails, kayaking rapids, and deep powder snow. The city has three ski resorts: Snowbasin, Powder Mountain and Nordic Valley. Ogden’s extensive trail network includes Taylor Canyon, Hidden Valley, Beus Canyon Trail, Indian Trail, and Waterfall Canyon. Mount Ogden has Via Ferrata.
Heading indoors, the Salomon Center features an indoor climbing wall, surfing wave and skydiving complex.
Historic Downtown 25th Street has been restored offering visiting productions a range of bars, restaurants, and art galleries to film in.
Hill Aerospace Museum is another interesting film location.
After a long day of filming, go check out Farr Better Ice Cream, an old-fashioned ice cream parlour.
