Film Production Services Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia.
Filming in the Blue Mountains.
Sydney is more than just beautiful beaches, modern city looks and sprawling suburbs. The Blue Mountains, starting a short 50 kilometre (31 mile) drive west of Sydney, offer a wide variety of natural locations for your next shoot. Popular for rock climbing, mountain biking and canyoning, the Blue Mountains are a great place to film adventure commercials. Documentary projects will find plenty of subject matter with a diversity of Aboriginal cultures as well as unique flora and fauna including eucalyptus trees, kangaroos, echidnas, koalas, and many different colourful bird species. The beautiful, rugged landscape has everything from the sweeping forest vistas of Echo Point, the plunging Wentworth Falls, the legendary Three Sisters, to the world heritage listed, easily accessible, Jenolan Caves.
Film Permits vary depending on all of the usual factors. Our local fixer / service producer will arrange all appropriate permits based on the specific requirements of each shoot. Allow plenty of lead time for larger shoots that require use of sensitive areas governed by National Parks.
When to shoot? The Blue Mountains offer year-round filming opportunities with snowfall a very rare occurrence.
Katoomba is the largest town and a good place to base your production for accommodation and services.
Production Service Support, Shooting Crew, Equipment, and Costs.
Crew and equipment need to come from Sydney where you can find a good depth of standard to specialised gear and experienced film crews.
Costs. The AUD has fallen considerably against the USD. In 2011 1 USD bought 0.9 AUD. Today 1 USD buys around 1.4 AUD. Getting to Australia is still expensive (and time consuming), but there are considerable exchange rate savings to be made once you get there.
