Film Location: Schloss Ernegg, Austria

Written on April 17, 2018

Schloss Ernegg

Schloss Ernegg is a beautiful 12th Century castle belonging to the Auersperg family. Ernegg castle is situated on a hill of the Alpine foothills in the heart of Austria, with a wonderful view to the Waldviertel.

The castle is only an hour’s drive from Vienna and Linz and two hours from Salzburg. Located in the beautiful Mostviertel region, the landscape even by Austrian standards is spectacular, and there is a wealth of culture, wines, castles, abbeys and medieval villages nearby.

The castle sleeps 50 people, with an extra 30 beds for larger parties. Accommodation is divided over three floors and into suites and double rooms, most of which have en-suite bathrooms. All rooms are large and individually designed and decorated with family antiques, portraits and memorabilia dating from centuries gone by. Rooms may be used both as film locations and for crew accommodation.

Location Permits & Fees

All areas of the castle are open to filming. The castle is privately owned so permission to film is arranged directly with the owners. Drone and other aerial filming is also permitted.

Daily rent for exclusive use of the castle as a film location is around 6500€. For smaller-footprint projects that only require part-use of the castle, rates start at around 600€ per day.

There aren’t any rights issues concerning royalties for architects or other artists and no other trademark photo release fees apply.

If you would like to contact the location directly email here.
