Spring Colours Central Park, New York City

Written on May 29, 2013

Central Park

Central Park in the heart of New York City is one of the world’s most filmed city parks. Spring brings bright blue skies, colourful gardens, verdant greens and cherry blossoms in full bloom. The park fills with people enjoying walks, running, cycling, carriage rides, paddle boating, picnics, baseball, tennis, bouldering or just laying out on the lawns enjoying being outdoors.

Film Permits

Filming and photography requires permission from Central Park Operations and then a permit from the Mayor’s Office (MOFTB). A permit is not required for a shoot that uses hand-held cameras or tripods and does not assert exclusive use of city property. A $300 application fee applies where equipment or vehicles are used or the filming asserts exclusive use of city property. Proof of insurance is required for this permit.

Central park does not permit productions on weekends or public holidays. Certain activities that would alter the park or impact the enjoyment of other visitors are prohibited. Central Park has a leave-no-trace-behind policy.
