US Customs House
The United States Customs House in Charleston, South Carolina, built in 1853 in the Early Republic style offers a classical limestone structure with Corinthian columns and an impressive interior including a checkered black and white floor.
Charleston is a beautiful city reminiscent of the romance of the Old South offering looks such as grand Antebellum homes, verdant gardens with the scent of gardenias, cobblestone streets, old cemeteries and gas lamps lighting the night.
Movies filmed in Charleston include The Patriot, The Notebook and Cold Mountain.
Permission to film at the US Customs House are generally a quick and easy process. Larger footprint projects will require additional lead time for permits as well as a Certificate of Insurance.
When To Shoot?
Summers from June to September are hot and humid with afternoon thundershowers common during this period. October is a great month to film with warm days and little average rainfall.
The humid climate, slow pace of life, rich local cuisine and mint juleps on the veranda help make filming in Charleston any time of year, a pleasant experience.
