Sochi Olympics

With the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics only a few months away, Latvia offers productions a cost efficient option for filming Olympic looks. As with Olympics past, venues in the Russian host city of Sochi will be restricted to broadcasters and sponsors of the event.

Olympic venues in Latvia include the Sigulda luge / bobsled / skeleton track, Olympic-size ice skating and hockey rinks, terrain parks and quarter pipes for snowboarding, forests and fields for cross-country skiing and biathlon, and downhill Alpine skiing locations.

All locations are within a 1.5hr drive from the capital Riga where local crew and equipment would come from (no overnights required). Latvia has all standard gear available locally including helicopters for aerial shots. Heli-mounts and more specialised gear can be easily brought in from Germany or Finland.

Latvia has a sizeable pool of professional winter sport athletes with many more to choose from in nearby countries.
