Film Production Services in Milan, Italy

Locations, Permits, Equipment, Fixers, Service Producers and Shooting Crew

Milan is Italy’s business, fashion, design and TV production capital. It is Italy’s second largest city in terms of population, and Europe’s third wealthiest city in terms of GDP.

The city is home to many cultural institutions, universities, museums and art galleries housing masterpieces such as Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper.

Although Milan lacks the diversity of beautiful locations like the cities of Paris or Prague, there are some noteworthy locations for visiting productions. These include amongst others; Piazza Duomo with Milan Cathedral and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Palazzo Marino, City Hall, Stock Exchange, Sforza Castle, Teatro alla Scala, San Siro Stadium, Pinacoteca di Breram, Navigli, Parco Sempione, Palazzo del Toro is designed in a Rationalist style, Bosco Verticale and the modern business district Porta Nuova.

Milan is also home to two of the world’s major football teams, A.C. Milan and Inter. Our local producers have extensive experience servicing projects with football stars.

Permits are required once you take exclusive use of public space. This includes simple shoots that only require setting up a tripod. It’s possible to get away without permits if you are filming handheld b-roll without any setups that disrupt public movement.

The city plays host to many events including the 2015 Expo, Milan Fashion Week, and a long list of music and other cultural and business events.

Local crews have a great deal of experience servicing a wide range of productions. Milan has all of the standard and specialised camera, lighting and grip equipment.

Talent. Given its status as a fashion capital, the city has a great diversity of world-class, multicultural models.

When to shoot? The summers are hot and humid. The winters are cold and foggy with occasional snowfall. If you’re planning to film in public locations springs and autumns offer pleasant weather and fewer tourists.

Down Time. Milan is well known for its world-class restaurants and cafés with a very high number of Michelin-selected establishments.
