Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is one of the world’s best known and most visited attractions. Erected in 1889, the iconic structure is the tallest in Paris at 324 metres (1,063 ft).
Filming from the tower offers a magnificent 360° panoramic view of the Paris skyline from both the first floor at 57m and the second floor at 116m. It is possible to film in the forecourt, floors, as well as some areas not open to the public. The iconic silhouette can be filmed from many locations across the city.
Access
Avenue Gustave Eiffel may be used for vehicle unloading. A service lift running from the ground level to the 2nd floor is available for film crews.
Permission
Filming is allowed both day and night. Permission to film and permit costs are determined on a case-by-case basis. Factors such as extent of access and control over the location, crew size, equipment setup, safety requirements, type of shoot, and timing of the shoot will be taken into account. Allow more lead time for shoots that affect regular public use of the space. Filming the Eiffel Tower from public locations around Paris will require permits from the city and police, or just permits from the police if the shoot is small.
Usage
The daylight image of the Eiffel Tower falls under public domain. The image can therefore be used and reproduced rights-free, without prior concent from the SETE. On the other hand, the various illuminations of the Eiffel Tower (golden illumination, twinkling, beacon and events lighting) are protected. Therefore, night filming of the Eiffel Tower image is subject to prior authorisation by the SETE. Royalties will also be due to lighting artists. These fees vary depending on the usage, media plan and other relevant factors.
Trademark
The Eiffel Tower is subject to trademark rights so products wishing to be labelled with this reference will need to negotiate a licensing agreement.
