Altos de Chavon
Altos de Chavon in the Dominican Republic is a replica of a 16th century Mediterranean medieval village. The location includes a plaza, stores, church, fountain, stone streets and a large amphitheater all overlooking a beautiful river.
The Dominican Republic is a small country offering a wide selection of nearby locations including white sand beaches, azure waters, mountains, forests, plantations and Spanish colonial buildings.
The location is a favourite for tourists and weddings so permission to film at Altos de Chavon requires some lead time to lock off locations. The owners will need to review the details of the project before granting permission to shoot.
Now is a great time to film in the Dominican Republic with long sunny tropical days. June to August and November to December are the rainy periods.
Altos de Chavon is a 2hr drive from Santo Domingo, where all crew and equipment will need to travel from.
